Eagle Property Capital Investments, LLC (“Eagle Property Capital” or “EPC”) is a privately owned investment advisory firm that was formed by Gerardo Mahuad and Rodrigo Conesa. These two Principals have over 35 years combined investment experience. Moreover, the combined experience of Eagle Property Capital’s Team results in a value-added investment approach, with a high degree of specialization in the multifamily sector.
Gerardo Mahuad – Managing Principal
Mr. Mahuad is Co-Founder of EPC. Mr. Mahuad is responsible for portfolio and asset management, capital markets and investor relations. Mr. Mahuad has been responsible for structuring, implementing and executing EPC’s investment vehicles, including drafting business plans and investment documents, fundraising, underwriting, overseeing the acquisition process, co-designing property-specific repositioning strategies, investor reporting and asset management. Mr. Mahuad has more than ten years of experience in investments, banking and finance. Prior to EPC, Mr. Mahuad managed and advised over US$200 million and co-advised over US$1.2 billion in assets of high-net worth individuals and families, foundations and private pension funds at Credit Suisse (Mexico) and Morgan Stanley (New York and Geneva). Before Morgan Stanley, Mr. Mahuad worked for three years at Ritch, where he focused his practice in Real Estate, advising clients in real estate investments in Mexico. Mr. Mahuad holds a Law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City where he graduated with honors, and an MBA with concentration in Finance and Real Estate from UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles.
Rodrigo Conesa – Managing Principal
Mr. Conesa is Co-Founder of EPC. Mr. Conesa directs EPC’s portfolio and investment strategy. Mr. Conesa has been responsible for structuring EPC’s investment vehicles, including drafting investment documents, coordinating the formation of legal structures, fundraising, underwriting, co-designing property specific repositioning strategies and supervising legal matters. Mr. Conesa is also a partner at Ritch Mueller, Heather y Nicolau S.C. (“Ritch”), a leading Mexican law firm, where he leads the firm’s real estate practice and advises Mexican and international clients in their real estate investments. Mr. Conesa has more than 18 years of experience in the real estate industry, including the structuring of private equity funds, capital markets transactions associated with real estate, acquisition of land and development of real estate projects in all asset classes, financing and refinancing of real estate projects and acquisition and disposition of stabilized real estate assets. Mr. Conesa holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and an L.L.M. from Columbia University in New York. Chambers and Partners have recognized Rodrigo as a leading real estate lawyer for six consecutive years.
Mariana Robina – SVP of Finance & Investments
Ms. Robina is responsible for the origination, analysis, underwriting and due diligence of acquisitions, debt financing, managing and monitoring the overall performance of the portfolio. She also manages all aspects of investor and lender relationships and reporting. In addition, Ms. Robina has been responsible for drafting business plans and investment documents, coordinating the formation of legal structures, underwriting, leading the acquisition process, co-designing property specific repositioning strategies, investor reporting and asset management. Ms. Robina has over six years of experience in real estate investments in residential, multifamily and mixed-use assets. Prior to EPC, Ms. Robina worked for more than three years at MIRA Companies, a real estate private equity firm where she was involved in all levels of transaction activity from deal pursuit to closing, underwriting, valuation, and due diligence of acquisitions valued in excess of $500 million. Ms. Robina holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City where she graduated with honors, and an MBA from Babson College F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business.
Humberto Uejbe – SVP of Asset Management & Asset Quality
Mr. Cubillos is responsible for executing the Company’s strategies related to property management operations for the portfolio by implementing policies, procedures and practices that enable him to achieve budgeted financial goals and optimal operational performance. Mr. Cubillos is responsible for day to day operations of the properties, forecasting property expenses, managing capital projects, preparing operational reports, leading leasing and marketing programs, and overseeing the staff working at the properties. Mr. Cubillos has over 15 years of real estate operations and asset management experience in multiple markets such as Florida, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, California and other east coast states. Prior to EPC, Mr. Cubillos managed a portfolio of 7,000 apartment units in 60 properties, representing $1.2 billion in assets and also worked at AIMCO (publicly traded REIT) for six years where he was Vice President of Asset Management of all east coast assets with over 27,000 apartment units including market rate and affordable properties. Mr. Cubillos earned his MBA from Harvard Business School with a concentration in Finance and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota.
Gabriel Candelas – SVP of Real Estate & Portfolio Management
Mr. Candelas is responsible for portfolio management of EPC’s multifamily assets and for identifying, structuring and implementing new business initiatives for the company.Mr. Candelas has more than fifteen years of experience in real estate, management consulting and corporate finance. Prior to working at EPC, Mr. Candelas worked for more than eight years at MIRA Companies, a private equity fund and vertically integrated real estate development firm, being responsible for strategic planning, asset management, and operation of MIRA’s portfolio of assets, which included retail centers, for-sale and for-rent residential communities and hospitality assets. Mr. Candelas also led the disposition of more than $300 million of assets in multiple transactions and represented MIRA in the board of JV partnerships with middle-income housing developers. Previously, he worked as a management consultant at Monitor Group in the Sao Paulo office.Mr. Candelas’ consulting experience includes projects focused in strategy, corporate finance, operations, and organizational redesign for the construction, cement, consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to that,Mr. Candelas worked at Diageo as a Sales Control Financial Analyst and at Yum! Restaurants International in several positions in the Financial Planning Department, including G&A Analyst and new units Analyst. Mr. Candelas holds an MBA from INSEAD and bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey.
Miroslawa Kopec – Vice President
Ms. Kopec is responsible for monitoring the overall performance of the portfolio, investor & lender reporting, and investor relations. Ms. Kopec has over nine years of experience in real estate investments and fund management. Prior to EPC, Ms. Kopec worked for three years at Walton Street Capital, a real estate private equity firm, where she co-managed two public funds that jointly represented over US$ 620 million in investors commitments. Prior to Walton Street Capital Ms. Kopec worked at Wal-Mart Mexico in the M&A division, where she prepared the valuation models for five potential acquisitions of retail chains with a transaction value of MX$ 2.8 billion. Prior to Wal-Mart, Ms. Kopec worked for Prudential Real Estate Investors (PREI LatAm) for more than four years, where she was involved in the underwriting, valuation and land acquisition of more than 18 affordable housing projects. Ms. Kopec earned her MBA from Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE) and holds a double bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
Ana Cecilia González – Associate
Ms. González is responsible for underwriting potential acquisition opportunities, overseeing and coordinating the acquisition process including debt financing, monitoring portfolio performance through quantitative analysis, as well as analyzing and coordinating the asset disposition process. At EPC, she has analyzed more than fifty multifamily properties, participated in one acquisition worth $30 million and in a three-property-portfolio disposition worth $45 million. Prior to EPC, Ms. González worked for two years at Artha Capital, one of the largest Mexican real estate private equity firms, where she was responsible for underwriting development opportunities, participating in over twenty closings worth more than $ 850 million including land development, industrial, retail, office, housing and hospitality projects. Prior to Artha Capital, Ms. González worked at Actinver as Equity Research analyst covering Mexican REITs for 2 years. Ms. González holds a bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
Héctor González – Associate
Mr. González is responsible for business plan execution and KPIs follow-up, marketing and resident relations, property management software set-up and maintenance, operations best practices, ancillary income and perioding performance reporting. Prior to EPC, Mr. González worked at Colliers International as Asset Manager for the retail properties portfolio and at MIRA companies as Property Manager for the company’s first mixed used project in Mexico. Mr. González holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from ITESM and is an MBA 2019 candidate from Escuela de Graduados en Administración y Dirección de Empresas (EGADE) Business School.
